"I have been a proud member of the Children of Haiti Enhancement Foundation (COHEF) since its inception. The core mission of COHEF is education—an essential foundation for achieving independence. To support children who cannot afford tuition, we have consistently provided scholarships, enabling them to attend school. Thanks to the dedication of our donors, COHEF makes a tangible difference in these young lives. Furthermore, the children's attendance helps sustain the school by contributing to our teachers' salaries. In my role as coordinator of the Wynne Farm Ecological Reserve, I facilitated a partnership between our two institutions to better serve the community through environmental education.
A key initiative to fulfill this goal was the creation of free summer camps, which unite members from across the Kenscoff community. We train our volunteers in essential skills and positive behavior management to ensure every child has a safe space to learn and play while respecting their natural surroundings. Camp activities have included sports, crafts, yoga, music, dancing, and environmentally friendly practices, with a strong emphasis on tree planting.
For years, this summer program has positively impacted the lives of over 1,000 children in our community, who eagerly anticipate this event each year. However, due to recent political instability and insecurity, COHEF has been unable to provide this summer joy.We take this moment to express our profound gratitude to our members, donors, and sponsors. We earnestly encourage your continued support for COHEF's efforts to bring the power of education to these children. This critical first step prepares them for their academic journey and paves the way for a better future through higher education."
